Senior Software Engineer Biometrics (C++)

Aware seeks a qualified candidate for the position of Senior Software Engineer to join its team of software engineers at its headquarters in Bedford, MA. The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated, experienced software engineer with an understanding of commercial software development. This position requires a team player with very strong technical skills to develop commercial-grade software based upon Aware’s existing and new product ventures. This position requires an organized individual, adept at implementing complex technical plans as directed. The engineer will possess the personal skills to interface directly with Aware’s customers requiring support and service of Aware’s products

Job Responsibilities

The primary job responsibilities will include architecting and developing commercial software products for imaging and biometric applications. This includes development of SDK libraries, server applications, sample applications and tools, and performing system-level test and release procedures. The candidate will also provide assistance to Aware’s customers as they install, integrate and use Aware’s products. The candidate must be able to work independently, research and solve problems quickly, and work effectively with other software developers.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years experience developing commercial applications
  • Full mastery of C++ programming language (threading, file/stream IO, collections, etc.)
  • Strong object-oriented design and development background
  • Good understanding and application of design patterns
  • Experience with performance optimization of software applications
  • Experience working in both Unix/Linux and MS Windows environments
  • Experience with creating customer builds and using source control tools
  • Degree of comfort working with server applications (REST services)
  • Experience programming in any of C#, Java, HTML5/Javascript is a plus
  • Knowledge of mobile (iOS/Android) application development is a plus
  • Knowledge of signal processing and image processing including algorithmic implementation experience is a plus

Forensic Examiner Subject Matter Expert

Aware is seeking a motivated, results-oriented, professional to serve as a subject matter expert and product manager for our ABIS platform and forensic examination tools.

The successful candidate will possess the experience, skills, and personality needed to excel as a person to drive product development and promotion of Aware’s rapidly evolving capability in the area of digital fingerprint and facial image forensics.

Reporting to the VP of Biometrics and collaborating directly with senior engineering management, our new SME will have the opportunity to make an immediate impact by helping to drive a multiyear development effort towards commercial success. The role presents an ideal opportunity to build upon one’s operational or development experience to establish and grow a product line that is of strategic importance to a small but mature and successful security software company.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Manage development and design of the matching platform, reporting module, dashboard module and examiner workstation.
  • Demonstration of the workstation applications which process palm images, ten print images, latent images and facial images to prospective customers.
  • Trade show and forensic conference participation.
  • Engagement with customers to solicit feedback and recommendations for enhancements or changes to the forensic examiner tools.
  • Identify shortcomings, suggest improvements and stipulate required functionality. Design and document the necessary changes. Work closely with engineering to ensure the changes are designed properly and function properly.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science degree with a technical focus
  • 5-10 years’ experience working for an AFIS vendor and/or a government identity, forensic, or criminal justice agency
  • Software product management expertise and/or forensic examiner operational experience
  • Ability and willingness to speak and present to an expert audience
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment
  • Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally

Responsibilities include performing advanced algorithm research and development in areas deemed complimentary to Aware’s digital image-based software products with a focus on biometric applications. The Imaging Scientist will work with the engineering staff to implement research results into commercial-quality software for product development and enhancement.

Research Engineer, Voice Biometrics

Responsibilities include combining algorithm research and development with API design and a level of product management that will encompass technical product ownership for Aware’s voice biometric initiative. Sales Engineer, Latin America

Aware is seeking a highly motivated and results-oriented person to join our sales and marketing team as Sales Engineer. The primary responsibilities of the person in this role will be to identify, pursue, and close software sales opportunities, to effectively communicate the functionality and value of our products, and to foster strong relationships with customers and potential customers. This position presents a compelling opportunity for the selected candidate to gain valuable experience, subject matter knowledge, and contacts in the high-growth technology fields of biometrics and digital payments, in geographies that are showing extremely promising potential.

Primary job responsibilities are:

  • Identify, qualify, prioritize, develop, and close sales opportunities
  • Present and demonstrate software products to potential customers
  • Lead pre-sales and post-sales technical communication, as well as provide frontline technical support with prospects and customers
  • Interface between sales and engineering groups to define and prioritize project/product requirements
  • Identify new product feature requirements

Senior Software Engineer Biometrics (Java)

Aware seeks a qualified candidate for the position of Senior Software Engineer to join its team of software engineers at its headquarters in Bedford, MA. The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated experienced software engineer with understanding of server application development for commercial software. This position requires a team player with very strong technical skills to develop commercial-grade software based upon Aware’s existing and new product ventures. This position requires an organized individual, adept at implementing complex technical plans as directed. The engineer will possess the personal skills to interface directly with Aware’s customers requiring support and service of Aware’s products.

Experience with biometrics is a plus. The team works on a variety of projects in the biometrics market including fingerprint, face, iris, and voice collection and analysis. This analysis includes matching, quality metrics, and compression. The software is deployed in a large variety of environments including client and server applications on multiple operating systems (Windows, Linux, and UNIX).

Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities include a team-based approach to writing software product engineering specifications, designing and implementing to support the specifications. The ability to shift focus quickly from one project to another and to allocate personal resources to more than one project at a time is important. The individual will be a significant contributor in a small team of software engineers, focused on delivering quality software in short time-cycles.
