Forensic Examiner Subject Matter Expert

Aware is seeking a motivated, results-oriented, professional to serve as a subject matter expert and product manager for our ABIS platform and forensic examination tools.

The successful candidate will possess the experience, skills, and personality needed to excel as a person to drive product development and promotion of Aware’s rapidly evolving capability in the area of digital fingerprint and facial image forensics.

Reporting to the VP of Biometrics and collaborating directly with senior engineering management, our new SME will have the opportunity to make an immediate impact by helping to drive a multiyear development effort towards commercial success. The role presents an ideal opportunity to build upon one’s operational or development experience to establish and grow a product line that is of strategic importance to a small but mature and successful security software company.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Manage development and design of the matching platform, reporting module, dashboard module and examiner workstation.
  • Demonstration of the workstation applications which process palm images, ten print images, latent images and facial images to prospective customers.
  • Trade show and forensic conference participation.
  • Engagement with customers to solicit feedback and recommendations for enhancements or changes to the forensic examiner tools.
  • Identify shortcomings, suggest improvements and stipulate required functionality. Design and document the necessary changes. Work closely with engineering to ensure the changes are designed properly and function properly.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science degree with a technical focus
  • 5-10 years’ experience working for an AFIS vendor and/or a government identity, forensic, or criminal justice agency
  • Software product management expertise and/or forensic examiner operational experience
  • Ability and willingness to speak and present to an expert audience
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment
  • Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally
  • Willingness to learn what is required to execute effectively
  • Membership in a professional society such as the IAI or special biometric working groups such as NIST OSAC or FISWG
  • Tele commuting is an option for this position

Imaging Scientist, Facial Biometrics

Aware is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Imaging Scientist to join its research team at its headquarters in Bedford, MA.

The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated, team-oriented, experienced research scientist or engineer with a good understanding of image processing, machine learning and pattern recognition. This position requires an organized individual with very strong technical skills who is adept at understanding and solving complex technical problems and eager to explore uncharted territories in biometrics and pattern matching.

Responsibilities include performing advanced algorithm research and development in areas deemed complimentary to Aware’s digital image-based software products with a focus on biometric applications. The Imaging Scientist will work with the engineering staff to implement research results into commercial-quality software for product development and enhancement.

Requirements:

  • strong background in mathematics and statistics
  • familiarity with machine learning and deep learning infrastructure and techniques

Research Engineer, Voice Biometrics

Aware is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Research Engineer to join its research team at its headquarters in Bedford, MA.

The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated, team-oriented, experienced research scientist or engineer with a good understanding of signal processing and machine learning as it relates to analysis and characterization of the human voice. Aware’s voice biometric products are at an early stage, but currently include text-dependent speaker recognition and voice anti-spoofing.

This position requires an organized individual with very strong technical skills who is adept at understanding and solving complex technical problems and eager to explore uncharted territories in voice biometrics.

Responsibilities include combining algorithm research and development with API design and a level of product management that will encompass technical product ownership for Aware’s voice biometric initiative. This position will work with the engineering management and staff, and the algorithm research team to implement and advance Aware’s voice biometric algorithms and products.

Senior Software Engineer Biometrics (Swift)

Aware seeks a qualified candidate for the position of Senior Software Engineer to join its team of software engineers at its headquarters in Bedford, MA. The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated, experienced software engineer with an understanding of current software development best practices and commercial software development.  This position requires a team player with very strong technical skills to develop commercial-grade software based upon Aware’s existing and new product ventures.  This position requires an organized individual, adept at implementing complex technical plans as directed. The engineer will possess the personal skills to interface directly with Aware’s customers requiring support and service of Aware’s products

Job Responsibilities
The primary job responsibilities will include architecting and developing commercial software products for mobile biometric applications. This includes development of mobile applications and libraries, including image, microphone and sensor acquisition. Development also includes integration of the mobile applications with backend services and packaging for release to customers. The candidate must be able to work independently, research and solve problems quickly, and work effectively with other software developers.

Requirements and Skills:

  • 5+ years’ experience developing commercial applications
  • Full mastery (threading, file/stream IO, collections, etc.) of iOS application development using the Swift programming language
  • Significant experience developing code in at least one of the following areas
    • C# application development
    • C++/Objective C programming
    • Android application development
  • Strong object-oriented design and development background
  • Good understanding and application of design patterns
  • Experience with performance optimization of software applications
  • Experience with web and/or UI technologies (HTML5/ JavaScript, WPF)
  • Experience in using REST webservice APIs to connect front-end applications to back-end services.
  • Knowledge of signal processing and image processing including algorithmic implementation experience helpful.
  • Experience in Python and Java programming helpful.
