Citizen ID

Aware provides software and solutions for government-sponsored, biometrics-enabled citizen identification and credentialing systems, such as for e-passports, national ID cards, and voter registration and elections. Features of the solution includes .NET or browser-based biometric enrollment and duplicate search, support for fingerprint, face, and iris biometrics, highly-scalable biometric search, stateful application processing workflow, and advanced analytics for automated data integration, identity data cleaning, and automated ID record comparison.

Citizen ID solutions are enabled by the AwareABIS™. Fingerprint, face, and/or iris enrollment and duplicate search are supported. AwareABIS™ is comprised of BioSP, Astra, and Nexa.  BioSP is a modular, configurable workflow and middleware platform used for server-or cloud-based functions, including data management, workflow, and subsystem connectivity. Astra with Nexa fingerprint, face, and iris matching SDKs perform biometric search of large databases. Inquire is an advanced text search and analytics tool used to clean identity data and automatically detect identity data inconsistencies. Astra is used to accelerate search and processing of very large identity databases. ICAOPack is used to personalize e-passports.

Biometric Solutions for Citizen ID

E-passport issuance and personalization

Aware software solutions for e-passport systems are used to collect biometric and biographic data, ensure its quality and compliance, and distribute the data for credential personalization. URC is used to enroll face and fingerprint images and other information towards issuance of a PIV card or e-passport. FingerprintComponent and PhotoComponent run within URC application to perform fingerprint and face biometric capture and also abstraction of the capture devices.

BioSP aggregates enrolled data submitted from the workstations, performs configurable workflows to process and distribute the data, and integrates with other systems to share data and receive responses. In this case, the data is sent to an AFIS for biometric search as well as to a card management system for personalization of the credentials.

National ID

Aware software solutions for national ID systems are used to collect biometric and biographic data, ensure its quality and compliance, search for duplicate enrollments, and distribute the data for credential personalization. URC or WebEnroll is used to enroll face and fingerprint images and other information towards duplicate search and personalization. FingerprintComponent and PhotoComponent run within URC application to perform fingerprint and face biometric capture and also abstraction of the capture devices.

AwareABIS applies powerful biometric identification performance for robust identity duplicate detection and fraud prevention.  It is comprised of BioSP, Astra, and Nexa. BioSP aggregates enrolled data submitted from the workstations, performs configurable workflows to process and distribute the data, and integrates with other systems to share data and receive responses. Astra using Nexa algorithms performs biometric search, Inquire performs text-based identity match.  BioSP can send biometrics to an external AFIS and a card management system for personalization of credentials.

Nexa fingerprint, face, and iris biometric matching algorithms can be used to determine whether an applicant is already represented in the database, which can help deter and prevent fraud.

Inquire applies advanced text search, match, and link algorithms to check biographic data against existing records and to help ensure that each citizen is issued only one identity.

Elections and voter registration

Aware software solutions for election and voting systems are used to collect biometric and biographic data, ensure its quality and compliance, and search for duplicate enrollments. URC or WebEnroll is used to enroll face and fingerprint images and other information towards duplicate search and personalization. FingerprintComponent and PhotoComponent run within URC application to perform fingerprint and face biometric capture and also abstraction of the capture devices. NISTComponent performs transaction validation and manages data submission to BioSP.

AwareABIS™ is an Automated Biometric Identification System (ABIS) used for large-scale biometric identification and deduplication, with support for fingerprint, face, and iris modalities. Its highly modular architecture allows it to be configured and optimized for either civil or criminal applications.

AwareABIS leverages BioSP™ (Biometric Services Platform), Aware’s market-leading workflow and integration server to achieve unsurpassed configurability and ease-of-integration.  It has the flexibility to utilize Aware’s high-performance, NIST-tested Nexa™ face, fingerprint, and iris matching algorithms, as well as top-tier fingerprint algorithms from 3rd-party providers.  Together, these features make it the best ABIS on the market not only for extreme configurability but for prevention of vendor lock-in.

AwareABIS is also fast, scalable, and reliable, using Astra™, an advanced cluster computing platform to perform searches against millions or tens-of-millions of records.

Inquire™ applies advanced text search, match, and link algorithms to check biographic data against existing records and to help ensure that each citizen is issued only one identity.

Barcode encoding of fingerprint templates

BioSP biometric barcodes solution utilizes BioSP Document Server with AwareXM and AccuPrint libraries to perform server-based fingerprint template extraction, barcode encoding and printing, and biometric match-to-barcode. Upon enrollment, fingerprint templates are incorporated into two-dimensional PDF417-compliant barcodes and then printed on credentials, PDFs, or other documents. Upon authentication, a live fingerprint image is submitted to BioSP along with data extracted from the barcode. BioSP can then perform centralized 1:1 fingerprint matching to authenticate an individual to the credential or document.
