AccuRad Stream

A Universal Image Viewer for Enterprise or Cross-Enterprise Image Sharing Systems

AccuRad ImageShare Workstation is a universal medical image viewing workstation for fast, efficient, low cost access and viewing of medical images in cross-enterprise health information exchange systems.  It utilizes DICOM, WADO, and IHE’s XDS-I.b Profile to achieve interoperability and leverages the advanced features of JPEG2000 compression and JPIP streaming for high performance.

AccuRad ImageShare Workstation offers the convenience of image access from disparate PACS in a universal viewing environment. Integrating AccuRad ImageShare Workstation reduces time, complexity and cost of deploying cross-enterprise image sharing systems. AccuRad ImageShare Workstation is vendor neutral and can be used with DICOM compliant image archiving systems and XDS-I.b compliant registries, repositories and document sources such as the AccuRad ImageShare Server.

How AccuRad ImageShare Workstation Works in an XDS-I.b Architecture

  1. The workstation queries a PIX/PDQ actor to resolve the patient’s unique identifier. The PIX/PDQ actor locates the patient identification based on the IHE Patient Identifier Cross-referencing (PIX) and Patient Demographic Query (PDQ) Integration Profiles.
  2. The workstation uses the patient identification from the PIX/PDQ actor to query the registry for patient image documents.
  3. The workstation retrieves the image manifest from the document repository. The manifest contains information about the images such as the study ID, series IDs, and object IDs.
  4. The workstation retrieves the DICOM header files from the image document source using WADO. The DICOM header files contain JPIP URL links to image pixel data.
  5. The workstation uses the DICOM URL links to JPIP stream the image pixel data from the AccuRad ImageShare Server, or from a JPIP enabled image archive.
