Aware To Feature Test and Diagnostics
DSL Service Assurance Products at NXTcomm 2007
BEDFORD, Mass. – June 18, 2007 – Aware, Inc. (NASDAQ: AWRE), a leading supplier of broadband technology, today announced that it will be demonstrating its latest line of DSL test and diagnostics hardware and software live in its booth (#1858) at NXTcomm 2007, June 18 – 21, 2007 in Chicago. At the show, Aware will give attendees a first-hand look at how its many test and diagnostics products, including interoperable OEM modem modules for handheld and testhead solutions and Dr. DSL® expert analysis software, work together and with other vendor equipment to offer service providers a combined service assurance solution which saves time and money for maintaining and rolling out new service offerings for VDSL2 and IPTV.
“Using Aware’s test and diagnostics solutions to emulate the DSLAM and/or CPE, vendors can now test multiple points in a network with the same piece of equipment. Leveraging Aware’s field-proven multi-standard interoperable solution, service providers can upgrade their networks to newer technologies such as VDSL2, without requiring new testing equipment,” commented Jim Wahl, Aware’s director of product marketing. “Combined with Aware's Dr. DSL expert software for automated fault analysis, this solution gives testing equipment companies and service providers access to a combination of completely interoperable and standard-compliant testing solutions that are capable of performing ADSL, ADSL2+ and VDSL2 tests for central offices and remote terminals.”
Aware’s NXTcomm demonstrations will feature realistic DSL test and service assurance scenarios involving both central office (CO) and customer premises equipment (CPE) using Aware’s technology.
“Of the many features included with Aware’s test and diagnostics products, our customers have found the easy-to-read results especially helpful,” continued Wahl. “Service providers do not want to dedicate technician field time or additional training to interpret the raw data collected as required by the DSL standards. Aware’s Dr. DSL product line offers technicians a sophisticated software solution that produces easily interpreted, plain-English results, reducing field time and increasing productivity.”
Dr. DSL Expert Analysis Software
Aware’s Dr. DSL expert analysis software enables DSL access equipment, test head and outside plant equipment suppliers to quickly integrate Aware’s advanced physical layer diagnostics into their product solutions. Aware’s software modules are flexible and can be rapidly integrated into OEM product platforms to provide complementary pre-qualification and line analysis functionality.
Dr. DSL Line Diagnostics Platform
Aware’s Dr. DSL Line Diagnostics Platform is a new server-based solution which analyzes physical layer data collected by BLCs, DSLAMs, CPEs or test equipment via single-ended (SELT) and dual-ended (DELT) line tests as well as metallic loop tests (MELT). Data retrieved through open interfaces is interpreted with Aware’s Dr. DSL software for plant analysis and line monitoring. The Line Diagnostics Platform allows single-ended 30 MHz spectral analysis, pre-qualification, and TDR troubleshooting as well as dual-ended outside plant, in-home and rate reduction analysis, and provides historical test comparisons for service planning and proactive maintenance. A demonstration of the functionality and performance of the Line Diagnostics Platform will be a centerpiece of Aware’s booth at the show. Aware also recently announced a reseller agreement for the Line Diagnostics Platform with Occam Networks.
Dr. DSL Modem Emulation Hardware
Aware’s line of DSL OEM hardware modem modules enable rapid integration of DSL modem emulation into telecom outside plant equipment. The modem modules leverage Aware’s interoperability leadership position to ensure connectivity with all major ADSL, ADSL2+ and VDSL2 chipset providers, and are software-configurable to support CO or CPE profiles for all ADSL and VDSL standards. Aware’s modem modules also support on-module Dr. DSL expert diagnostics software for local analysis and interpretation of data..
Technician Dr. DSL
Aware’s Technician Dr. DSL uses Aware’s Dr. DSL software to provide expert analysis on a technician’s laptop, enabling field technicians to efficiently troubleshoot common outside plant and in-home DSL problems by identifying their source and calculating the data rate impact of each disturber. Technician Dr. DSL’s physical layer analysis capabilities include topology analysis and bridged tap detection, disturber identification, in-home analysis and rate reduction analysis.
