About Aware

Dr DSL Software

Aware’s Dr. DSL diagnostics software enables access equipment vendors, test head and outside plant equipment suppliers to quickly integrate Aware’s advanced physical layer diagnostics into their product solutions.  Aware’s software modules are flexible and can easily be integrated into an OEM product platform to provide complementary pre-qualification and line analysis functionality.

Dr. DSL’s Pre-Qualification and Fault Detection software modules are used on inactive lines to interpret SELT raw data collected by ADSL2+ central office equipment to pre-qualify customers for a specific service level, to test for wideband interferers, and to identify loop faults. Dr. DSL’s SELT interpretation greatly improves qualification accuracy and flexibility with Aware’s Dr. DSL expert analysis software, which provides rate estimation for multiple DSL technologies with multiple equipment profiles using Aware’s DSL intellectual property.

Dr. DSL Pre-Qualification and Fault Detection Functionality Includes:

  • Multi-profile rate estimation for ADSL2+ upstream and downstream links for ADSL, ADSL2+, VDSL2
  • Predicted attenuation estimation at 300 KHz
  • Near-end spectral wideband noise analysis
  • Loop length estimation
  • Bridged tap length and location
  • Rate reduction due to bridged taps
  • Open, short detection

The Dr. DSL Line Diagnostics and Analysis software modules are used on active lines to interpret raw data in standard-compliant ADSL2+ CPE to provide highly accurate loop topology, bridged tap, and wideband noise analysis. Service providers can collect detailed topology and far-end crosstalk information across their network and monitor changes over time. Dr. DSL expert analysis software is used to calculate the data rate reduction due to bridged taps, crosstalk and AM ingress.

Dr. DSL Line Diagnostics and Analysis Functionality Includes:

  • Maximum attainable downstream / upstream data rate
  • Downstream / upstream margin
  • Loop length estimation
  • Bridged tap detection
  • In-home analysis
  • Far-end wideband noise analysis
  • Bits per tone downstream
  • CO / CPE vendor identification
  • Rate reduction due to bridged taps
  • Rate reduction due to wideband and narrowband disturbers
  • Wideband and narrowband disturber analysis
