Software Tools for Reading, Writing, Editing, and Validation of Biometric Objects in Compliance with ANSI/NIST ITL-1 2007
NISTPack is a complete suite of software development tools that enables law enforcement agencies, systems integrators, and solution providers to generate, view, edit, and print data objects and transactions in compliance with the ANSI/NIST ITL-1 2007 standard. Using NISTPack ensures that digitized images are properly compressed, that demographic data is included in the correct format, and that the resulting object is constructed properly for interoperability with other agencies or other standard-compliant systems.
Key Features
- Ennhanced Java-script based validation engine that can be
used by developer to generate custom error checking and validation logic
- API’s that allow software developers to easily
develop applications
to read, write, edit and view ANSI/NIST compliant
biometric data
- COM Control for Visual Basic programming
- Run-time applications and demos with source code
- Supports all record types of the standard (including fingers,
palms, faces, irises, latents, minutiae, and CBEFF)
Published in April 2007, this latest revision of the ANSI/NIST ITL-1 standard adds substantial improvements:
- An expanded type 10 record to support several types of facial images
- Addition of a type 17 record for iris images
- Addition of a type 99 record for CBEFF biometrics
- Better support for international characters sets through the Unicode UTF8 format
- Support for FBI-certified JPEG2000 compression of 1000 ppi fingerprint images
NISTPack also adds an enhanced Java-script based validation engine that can be used by developer to generate custom error checking and validation logic.
NISTPack supports both the generic ANSI/NIST standard and agency specific implementations of the standard. Through a text-based rule file called the NISTPack Validation File, the agency specific implementations of the FBI, RCMP, UK, Bundeskriminalamt (BKA), BioDev, Schengen, Interpol, and all fifty US States are supported.
The ANSI/NIST Fingerprint Interchange standard is widely used and supports several different types of biometric and demographic data. NISTPack provides API support to insert and remove any full record, field, subfield, or item from an interchange file. NISTPack supports all record types defined by the standard.
