Real-time Multi-Fingerprint Autocapture Software Development Kit for Livescan

Aware's FastCapture with LiveScan API is a software development kit (SDK) designed for use by integrators and hardware vendors to develop a fingerprint autocapture workstation application.  FastCapture performs several real-time quality checks on single- and multi-finger images to ensure compliance and maximum quality. LiveScan API enables FastCapture to be used seamlessly with many market-leading fingerprint scanning hardware devices.   FastCapture with LiveScan API is ideal for applications where multiple high-quality, standards-compliant fingerprints must be collected within strict time constraints, and where it is desirable to utilize the same fingerprint capture application with different hardware devices.

FastCapture performs the following processes in real time:

• fingerprint image segmentation and bounding box definition,
• ridge flow-based fingerprint image quality scoring, and
• left/right hand identification
• finger angle measurement
• missing finger detection
• finger on platen edge detection
  

By setting programmable thresholds, each individual fingerprint image is captured automatically only when it a) can be properly segmented, b) presents sufficient image quality, and c) is from the correct hand.  In doing so, FastCapture substantially improves workflow efficiency, enabling automatic collection of a complete set of ten flat fingerprints in as little as ten seconds.  FastCapture output, along with biographical data, can be forwarded to Aware's NISTPack software libraries to create FBI-compliant "Type 14" EFTS fingerprint records, acceptable for civil submissions.
