Biometrics Services Platform (BioSP™)
Service-Oriented Biometric Application Server
Aware’s Biometric Services Platform (BioSP) is a service-oriented application server platform used to enable advanced biometric data processing and management functionality in an enterprise service bus (ESB) architecture. BioSP is well suited for applications that require the collection of biometrics throughout a distributed network, and subsequent aggregation, analysis, processing, distribution, matching, and sharing of data with other system components. BioSP is modular, programmable, scalable, and secure, capable of managing all aspects of transaction workflow including messaging, submissions, responses, and logging. BioSP makes extensive use of open-source components and is J2EE-compliant.

High-level BioSP architecture
On-Board Biometric Processing Modules
BioSP is differentiated not only by its high degree of modularity and programmability, but also by its advanced on-board biometric capabilities, available through independent, service-oriented software modules. Each BioSP module performs a discrete set of functions, including biometric authentication and duplicate checking, centralized image analysis and processing, data formatting and transcoding, and image quality assurance and reporting. The modules interact with each other via web services.
Front- and Back-End Connectivity
BioSP provides connectivity to remote endpoints used for image and data capture, such as for biometric enrollment, verification, and identification. BioSP can manage configuration and distribution of client-based software applications. BioSP also establishes connectivity to back-end systems including AFIS/ABIS, as well as systems for identity management, card management, and credential personalization.
Web-based User Interface
BioSP includes a rich web-based user interface that enables several useful functions for operators and administrators. Each BioSP software module has its own dedicated tab in the application. Functions include:
- Fingerprint, face, and iris autocapture, quality assurance, and hardware abstraction
- Transaction searching, viewing, and editing
- User access administration and security
- Client application configuration and distribution
- Biometric image data quality and throughput reporting
